Unified Electronic Payment System to be Implemented in Yerevan's Transport

A unified electronic payment system will soon be implemented in Yerevan, allowing payments via bank cards, smartphones, and more. According to Armenpress, during the first session of the 7th convocation of the City Council, Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan stated that the requirement to pay with 100-dram coins in the new, smaller buses is also a feature of the transitional phase.

“A unified electronic payment system will soon be introduced, enabling payments through all modern electronic means—bank cards, smartphones, etc. In all developed cities, it is normal for a passenger to know they should have a ticket when using public transport, but in our case, it is simpler: you just need to have a 100-dram coin. Moreover, our devices for electronic payments will be the most advanced in the world,” said the mayor, adding that all available options for withdrawing funds electronically will be operational.
