Red Berets Detain Residents of 'Phizgorodok'

Residents of the scientific community known as 'Phizgorodok' are staging a protest in front of the Yerevan City Hall, demanding the halt of construction in their neighborhood. They have blocked the street adjacent to the city hall.

They are holding banners that read "No to Nature Destruction" and "Halt Construction." A resident stated, "Today during the council meeting, it was mentioned that allegedly the construction works are within legal limits, which compelled us to take this action and block the street. We demand that the meeting be interrupted immediately and that the mayor, who has been avoiding eye contact with us for two years, be brought here."

Shortly before, red berets began forcibly detaining citizens participating in the protest in the street near the city hall.
