Some Remains Are Sent for Identification by Parents for the Third or Fourth Time, Says Avanesyan

Currently, 50 remains of war casualties are in the Netherlands for identification. This information was reported by the Minister of Health of Armenia, Anahit Avanesyan, during a briefing with journalists in the National Assembly.

“There are still remains or parts of deceased servicemen stored in various morgues across Armenia, but I cannot specify how many. We had remains that we could not identify, and now those samples are in the Netherlands, where more complex examinations are taking place,” said Avanesyan.

According to her, there are also remains that have been identified, but the parents have expressed a desire to have them examined again in other countries to confirm the results a second, third, or even fourth time. Avanesyan noted that until now, the results of examinations conducted in Armenia and abroad have been identical. Such cases number more than 20, according to the minister.

Avanesyan added that the conditions for the storage of remains and parts are under scrutiny. During this period, the Martuni forensic center has been re-equipped and reconstructed, and the same applies to the forensic center in Vardenis.
