VIDEO: A 29-Year-Old From Dzoraget Illegally Cut Down 257 Trees in 2 Months from the 'Dsegh Forest Enterprise'

In October 2020, it was reported that an unknown person had illegally cut down 257 trees of various species and diameters, along with 14 tree branches, in the 'Dsegh Forest Enterprise' of the 'Hayantar' state non-commercial organization.

A criminal case was initiated regarding the incident, and as a result of extensive operational-investigative measures conducted by the police of the Tumanyan division and investigative actions carried out by the territorial investigative division, several circumstances of the crime were clarified. Consequently, a charge was brought against a 29-year-old resident of Dzoraget village under Article 315 (Negligence of Official Duty) of the Criminal Code. He had worked as a forest ranger in the second compartment of the 'Dsegh Forest Enterprise' from August 3 to September 30, 2020.

Evidence has been obtained indicating that, as an official and fully responsible for the damage caused to his branch, he demonstrated a negligent and irresponsible attitude towards his duties, failing to perform his obligations properly, which resulted in damage to the fauna and flora amounting to approximately 19 million drams. The investigation is ongoing.
