Emergency Incident: Explosion Rocks Geghardzor Village, Damage Reported, Injured Individuals
Today, on July 21, an emergency incident occurred in the Ararat region. At around 18:00, the 911 operational management center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations received a call reporting an explosion heard in front of one of the houses on 8th Street in Geghardzor village, and that there were injured individuals.
According to Shamshyan.com, police and rescue teams determined that around 17:45, in front of house No. 10 on the mentioned street, 30-year-old Hrant Feroyan was attempting to move his "CAT" brand tractor, belonging to the Geghardzor community, which was parked in his yard. During this process, a tire exploded, resulting in a "shock wave" that damaged a VAZ 2121 car parked in the yard, iron railings, windows, as well as doors and windows of the living room and bedroom, the bathroom ceiling, and other items. The force of the blast was so strong that it also damaged two vehicles parked in the neighboring yard and shattered the windows of the neighbor's house.
The doctors from Aragats and Aparan acted promptly, transporting two individuals to the hospital and providing first aid on site. After transporting the wounded to the hospital, the medical staff returned to the scene to assist one more individual. Witnesses reported that the injured person is the homeowner, while those taken to the hospital are his relatives. The resident incurred significant material damage, and the villagers are appealing to the governor of Aragatsotn region for assistance for the socially disadvantaged affected family.
Currently, an inspection of the scene is being conducted by the senior investigator of the Aragats division of the police investigation department, Baghdasaryan, who is preparing materials on the incident. The police are also identifying the injured parties.
Several villagers, speaking with a photojournalist, stated: "The sound of the explosion was so strong that we thought there was an explosion at the Russian military base located near the village, but when we arrived here, we witnessed a completely different scene. The young man was thrown from the vehicle due to the tire explosion, and the windows, doors, railings, and part of the furniture were shattered and broken. We commend the rescuers, doctors, and the police for their rapid response. All operational services were here within seven minutes of the alert. If the doctors had been even a little delayed, we don’t know what we would have done. Thanks to them, the condition of the wounded did not worsen. Before transporting them to the hospital, they examined everyone and provided first aid, while the rescuers and police performed their duties competently. We are grateful to the doctors, rescuers, and police. Now, it remains for the provincial administration to extend a helping hand to this family because they cannot cope with this situation alone."
