Israeli-Palestinian Military Operations May End in Coming Days: Associated Press

The military operations conducted by Israel against Palestinian forces controlling the Gaza Strip may come to an end within a few days, according to the Associated Press citing its sources.

Reportedly, U.S. President Joe Biden urged Israel's Prime Minister in a phone call on May 17 to cease the strikes on Gaza. Additionally, various representatives of the American administration have conveyed similar calls to the Israeli side.

According to the source, the Israeli side emphasized that there is a possibility of halting military operations in response. Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the Israeli army's operations in Gaza would continue as long as necessary.

It is noted that the clashes that began last week between Palestinians and Israelis have resulted in the deaths of 212 Palestinians, including 61 children and 34 women, while nearly 1,500 Palestinians have been injured. On the Israeli side, the death toll stands at 10, including 2 children. Unrest in Jerusalem began on May 7. Clashes erupted between Arab youths and police on the evening of May 8 and continued, spreading to the Temple Mount and the Al-Aqsa Mosque area. They peaked on May 10, coinciding with the celebration of Jerusalem Day by Jews. The Israeli army has stated it has eliminated key figures in Hamas intelligence, including the head of Hamas military intelligence's security branch and his deputy.
