Armenian Prosecutor's Office on Ongoing Processes in Syunik
The Prosecutor's Office of Armenia has been instructed to clarify the circumstances and provide a legal assessment regarding the infringements occurring in the Syunik region by the adversary. This was stated by Aravik Khachatryan, head of the Public Relations Department of the Prosecutor's Office of Armenia, in response to a query from NEWS.am.
Recall that on the morning of May 12, Azerbaijani armed forces crossed the state border of the Republic of Armenia in the 'Sev Lich' area of Syunik and advanced up to 3.5 kilometers into Armenian territory. Negotiations are currently underway.
The Ministry of Defense of Armenia issued a statement that early in the morning, Azerbaijani forces attempted to conduct certain activities in one of the border areas of Syunik under the pretext of 'border delimitation.'
In the evening, an extraordinary meeting of the Security Council took place under the leadership of Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, where the situation in the 'Sev Lich' area of Syunik was discussed. In today's government meeting, Pashinyan stated that there is no significant change in the situation, indicating that we are dealing with a crisis.
The Acting Prime Minister noted that the recent developments were a premeditated provocation, as the Azerbaijanis have falsified maps to substantiate their claim that they are within the borders of Azerbaijan.
