Syunik Governor Could Not Have Said That the Enemy Got Lost, Says Regional Administration
The Syunik Regional Administration urges the Governor of Syunik not to attribute words that he did not actually say. The administration issued a denial on its Facebook page, responding to reports today that Governor Melikset Poghosyan stated that the Azerbaijanis did not advance in Syunik, but rather got lost.
Today, media outlets and social media circulated news that the enemy had initiated combat operations in the area of the village of Ishkhanasar in Syunik Province. The Armenian Ministry of Defense's press service also reported that on the morning of May 12, Azerbaijani armed forces attempted to carry out certain activities in one of the border areas of Syunik under the pretext of 'demarcating the borders.'
The Syunik Governor has not expressed such thoughts in any conversation with the media; he has been in the area of Lake Sevan since the morning, and at the end of the day, he stated that 'the Azerbaijanis have deliberately come and violated the border.' Therefore, Poghosyan could not contradict himself or, even more so, state with the experience of a long-time soldier that the adversary got lost,” the Syunik Regional Administration’s statement reads.
