Today there is no innocent person in Armenia's penitentiary institutions, says Pashinyan
The acting Prime Minister and Prime Minister candidate Nikol Pashinyan stated that it can be confidently said that today there is no innocent person in the penitentiary institutions of Armenia.
This was mentioned by Pashinyan during a special session of the National Assembly, where the issue of electing the Prime Minister is being discussed.
“We have also implemented revolutionary changes in the field of justice: today, the number of detained and convicted persons in the Republic of Armenia's penitentiary institutions is at a historic minimum. This is the result of the reforms we have carried out in the field of justice. Because today, the courts are no longer an appendage to the investigative bodies. I believe that yes, we have today reached the most significant change in the field of justice, which is a revolutionary change. We can confidently say that today, there is no innocent person in the penitentiary institutions of the Republic of Armenia,” said Pashinyan.
The Prime Minister candidate noted that the greatest problem in the field of justice has always been that many people who should not have been in prisons have spent years there, including for political reasons.
