Borrell Declares That EU Relations with Russia Are Deteriorating
Relations between the European Union and the United States are improving, while those with Russia are deteriorating. This was stated by the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, after arriving at the meeting of foreign ministers from the 27 member states of the Union in Brussels.
“Our relationship with the US is changing; we now have a strong partnership. This became especially clear after the G7 summit,” he said. “We will also discuss the situation with Russia, where, on the contrary, relations are not improving.”
The EU Council will hold a plenary meeting at the level of foreign ministers in Brussels, where relations with the US and Russia will be discussed, along with support for the countries of the Western Balkans, the situation in Afghanistan, and the situation surrounding the Iranian nuclear deal. The ministers do not plan to make decisions on new sanctions against Russia.
