Surén Sargsyan on Biden's Decision to Withdraw US Troops from Afghanistan

International relations expert Surén Sargsyan has made a post on his Facebook page, highlighting the connection between the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan and Armenia.

“President Biden has decided to completely withdraw American troops from Afghanistan this year, ending the longest war in US history. Let me say this right away: Azerbaijan held strategic significance for the US because it was through Azerbaijani territory that supplies for the ‘Northern Distribution Network’ were delivered. In other words, Azerbaijan was an important hub for delivering all kinds of supplies to American troops stationed in Afghanistan. Baku benefited politically, diplomatically, and economically from these transfers, while Washington often turned a blind eye to Baku’s various actions. Going forward, Azerbaijan’s strategic importance to the US will change,” Sargsyan wrote.
