Azerbaijan's Goal is to Banish Armenians from Their Historic Homeland
Azerbaijan will continue to employ methods aimed at terrorizing the population of Artsakh. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Artsakh, David Babayan, in response to questions regarding incidents of stones being thrown at Armenian transport and the shelling of villagers.
“The international community is aware of what is happening, if only because Artsakh’s state institutions, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, are providing appropriate official commentary. Of course, we need to understand that Azerbaijan will use such methods. Firstly, it is financially cheaper; there is no need to use tanks, drones, or air forces. Because the goal is singular - to expel Armenians from Artsakh. Such methods terrify a segment of the population. Additionally, it’s easier for Azerbaijan. They can claim it isn’t state-sponsored; perhaps it was done by a mentally imbalanced individual, a relative of someone who was killed in the Artsakh or April war. This absolves the Azerbaijani state of responsibility. We must understand this well and do everything we can to avoid falling for provocations. We know the Azerbaijanis well. Perhaps some do not know them and compare Aliyev to the Mona Lisa, but we know better,” stated the foreign minister.
