Ararat Mirzoyan as a Suspect: New Scandal Surrounds the Speaker of Parliament

New revelations have emerged regarding the Speaker of Parliament, Ararat Mirzoyan. The former director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, Haik Demoyan, has presented notable circumstances concerning Mirzoyan. In particular, he noted that important artifacts had gone missing from the museum back in 2007, and there is evidence that current 'My Step' faction member Vladimir Vardanian and Speaker of Parliament Ararat Mirzoyan, who were both postgraduates at that time, have been questioned in connection with that case.

“In 2007, when I became the director, it was revealed that seventeen pieces of rare literature had been lost or stolen during the renovation works conducted under the previous director. At that time, no criminal case had been initiated. Once I became the director and learned of this, and since the previous director refused to conduct the handover, a criminal case was opened. Recently, it became clear that the postgraduates, who the former director considered the main suspects, had also been questioned,” he stated.

It is noteworthy that this is already the second scandal surrounding Ararat Mirzoyan. Former Armenian Ambassador Mikael Minasian claimed that Mirzoyan had been a special agent for Turkey before becoming a double agent for Armenia’s NSS, and as proof, he published a document signed by Mirzoyan that stated, “I am obligated to maintain the confidentiality of any information that may contain state and national secrets.” However, the Speaker of Parliament denied this, stating, “Mikael Minasian's latest delusional claims should receive appropriate legal assessment, and Minasian must be held accountable for this false accusation as well.” Nevertheless, to date, we have not witnessed any legal evaluation,” writes the newspaper “Zhoghovurd.”
