The Supreme Judicial Council Holds Urgent Meeting to Address Threats to Judge

The court, presided over by Mher Petrosyan, had granted on March 17 the motion of lawyer regarding the precautionary measure requested by Onik Gasparyan. Judge Mher Petrosyan of the Administrative Court, who issued a provisional decision involving Onik Gasparyan, has approached the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) and expressed that his life is in danger. This information was reported by 'Haykakan Zhamanak.'

According to the latest reports, the SJC has convened an urgent session to review the threats addressed to the judge.

It is noteworthy that on March 10, 2021, Onik Gasparyan had filed a lawsuit against Armenian President Armen Sarkissian and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, seeking to annul the order that removed him from his position, which was backed by an announcement from the Prime Minister declaring that Onik Gasparyan was legally dismissed from his position as Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces.

The Administrative Court of Armenia, under Judge Mher Petrosyan, had granted the lawyer's motion on March 17 for precautionary measures regarding Onik Gasparyan's case, demanding to recognize the absence of legal relations concerning his dismissal.
