VIDEO: Drug Trafficking Case Discovered in Metsamor; Both Seller and Buyer Arrested
Operative officers of the Metsamor division of the police received information about drug trafficking, which they acted upon on March 20. At 12:30 PM, they stopped an "Opel" brand vehicle on the 37th kilometer of the Yerevan-Armarvir road. The driver was detained on suspicion of possessing drugs, and the "Opel" was moved to a secured location.
During a search, drug paraphernalia and a tablet container with traces of cannabis were discovered on the 53-year-old driver. The driver indicated that there was a package containing cannabis in the vehicle, a detail that the criminal investigators were already aware of.
As a criminal case was initiated, a court order allowed for a search of the "Opel" on the same day. A package was found in the compartment, containing approximately 180 grams of a substance similar to marijuana. The driver was arrested.
Subsequent operative investigative measures confirmed the source from whom he purchased the drugs. On March 23, police from Metsamor traveled to Armavir to the home of a 65-year-old man. During a search, drugs were found. It was clarified that he had sold the driver 180 grams of the drug for 200,000 drams.
The 65-year-old resident of Armavir was also arrested. The investigation continues.
