Ashot Harutyunyan Resigns from His Position at His Own Request
The newspaper "Hraparak" reports that Ashot Harutyunyan, appointed as an advisor to the head of the State Audit Office in August of last year, has resigned from his position at his own request. Harutyunyan, who previously served as Deputy Minister of Agriculture during the past administration, worked as an expert in the National Assembly's agricultural issues committee after 2018.
He moved to the State Audit Office under Tigran Ulikhanyan, who promised objective and impartial work when he was appointed as acting head of the agency. However, it seems that the former deputy minister, who holds opposition views, has struggled to adapt to working with a close ally of Prime Minister Pashinyan. Furthermore, after the war, he reportedly did not wish to remain and work within that team.
According to reports, he submitted his resignation letter, handed in his cabinet and service vehicle plates, and left his job without discussing his resignation with the head of the agency. When asked why he decided to resign just five months after his appointment, Harutyunyan stated, "I maintain my principles and will uphold them until the end."
When questioned if there were issues related to his principles or political disagreements, he replied, "Not only political disagreements; considering the general state of the country, the economy, the casualties, and the uncertain future, I decided to take this step," said Ashot Harutyunyan.
