Arsenal Ready to Bid Farewell to Henrikh Mkhitaryan
London's Arsenal is prepared to sell the full transfer rights of the captain of the Armenian national football team, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, to Roma. This comes from reports by The Mirror.
The Gunners aim to strengthen their squad and plan to use the funds from the 31-year-old midfielder's sale for that purpose, as noted by HJ.
Roma has repeatedly expressed its desire to retain Mkhitaryan, who is currently on loan. The player himself wishes to stay, as he has communicated to Arsenal's management. However, both sides have struggled to reach an agreement on the terms for some time now.
Recently, Arsenal has lowered its asking price and is willing to part with the player for £10 million. Previously, various figures had been mentioned in the media, all of which were higher. Roma has been unwilling to meet Arsenal's initial demands.
Currently, they are offering even less. There have also been reports that Roma is looking to offer a player along with some cash in exchange for Mkhitaryan, but Arsenal has not agreed to this proposal. The London club believes they are selling a valuable player and thus expect to get a fair amount in return.
In any case, they need to make a decision soon as Mkhitaryan's contract with Arsenal expires in the summer of 2021, and as the deadline approaches, the player's value continues to decrease.
Mkhitaryan joined Roma on a loan basis at the start of the current 2019-20 season, taking part in 17 matches in Serie A and the Europa League, scoring 6 goals and providing 4 assists.
