Arsen Khachatryan Sues Hrant Bagratyan
Former advisor to the Prime Minister of Armenia, Arsen Khachatryan, has filed a lawsuit against former Prime Minister Hrant Bagratyan for defamation and insult.
In connection with this, Arsen Khachatryan wrote on his Facebook page: "Regarding the lawsuit against Hrant Bagratyan. Since I am receiving calls from media outlets and friends regarding filing a lawsuit against Hrant Bagratyan, I find it necessary to clarify the basis and reasons for my decision here.
Former Prime Minister Hrant Bagratyan made a post on his Facebook page on April 8, in which he used offensive expressions and attributed non-existent facts to me.
Insult: The former Prime Minister calls me a "Soros emissary," "Soros scum," making claims that, quoting him: "we don’t care about the elections in Artsakh, just like Azerbaijan."
Defamation: Bagratyan attributes statements to me that have no relation to reality. In particular, he claims that I declared the Artsakh elections to be falsified, demanded the resignation of Bako Sahakyan, used the revolutionary forces of Artsakh, and so on.
In addition to the insult, Bagratyan's statement is blatantly false and, in my opinion, aims to distort public perceptions of me through a sharply negative subtext; hence, he will answer in court.
One can only hope that the lawsuit will be heard in a timely manner and will not be subject to the fate of several other lawsuits of mine and my friends that have already been dragging on excessively.
