Levon Aronian Maintains 7th Place in FIDE Rankings
The International Chess Federation (FIDE) has released the latest rankings of chess players as of May. Levon Aronian has retained his position at 7th place. The rankings are led by world champion Magnus Carlsen. Included in the top ten are Ding Liren, Fabiano Caruana, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Alexander Grischuk, Wesley So, Teimour Rajabov, and Anish Giri.
Among Armenian chess players, the only change has been recorded by Karen Grigoryan, who has improved his individual ranking by 3 points. Karen has added points following his victory in a tournament held in Portugal, surpassing Hrant Melkumyan. He is now the 3rd among Armenian players, occupying the 71st position overall. Gabriel Sargsyan stands at 53rd place, while Hrant Melkumyan is ranked 77th.
In the women’s ranking list, Elina Danielyan is in 56th place. Anna Sargsyan is ranked 58th, and Lilit Mkrtchyan is in 71st place.
