VIDEO: Snowstorm and State of Emergency in Kazakhstan

A state of emergency has been declared in the capital of Kazakhstan, Nur-Sultan, due to a severe snowstorm. The announcement was made on Monday, January 27, by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic, Yuri Ilyin.

According to Nur.kz, the official stated, 'A meeting will commence to introduce a state of emergency in six regions. Where difficulties persist, a state of emergency will be declared.'

The capital of Kazakhstan is facing a snow collapse, as reported by the publication. Wind gusts are reaching speeds of up to 20 meters per second.

Classes have been canceled in schools and colleges, roads are closed, and many flights have been delayed or canceled.
