Video: State Sustained Damage Exceeding 36 Million Drams; Criminal Case Initiated
The collaboration between the Police and the National Security Service of Armenia has led to the unveiling of another corruption-related crime. Based on information, factual data has been obtained in the Corruption and Economic Crimes Directorate of the Criminal Police of Armenia, indicating that since 2009, an official from the territorial division of the Inspection Body for Environmental Protection and Mining in Gegharkunik marz has been abusing his official position for profit.
Specifically, by taking advantage of the conditions created by the improper performance of duties and unethical behavior of officials at the Lchashen community, he has organized illegal mining and sale of basalt gravel on the administrative territory of the Lchashen community through a company owned by his brother, without the appropriate permissions, causing damage to the state exceeding 36 million 380 thousand drams.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident. The circumstances are under investigation. This information is provided by the Public Relations Department of the Police of Armenia.
