Video: 1,700,000 AMD Worth of Jewelry Stolen from a Neighbor's House - Details
On January 7, around 9 PM, the police station in Gavar received a report from the operational management center that a theft had occurred in one of the houses in Sarukhan village. An operational group was dispatched to the scene to determine how the perpetrators entered the house, from where, and what was stolen.
The homeowners had been away for just a few hours, during which time the intruders opened a window using technical means and stole gold jewelry, causing approximately 1,700,000 AMD in material damage. After documenting the scene, criminal investigation officers conducted operational inquiries to identify the suspect.
It was necessary to ascertain who, other than family members, could have known that they would be away from home. Officers from the Gegharkunik regional department joined the investigative efforts, and the hypothesis that the criminal might be one of the villagers was soon confirmed. Through joint efforts, law enforcement determined that the theft was committed by a 28-year-old resident of the same village.
On January 13, after extensive explanatory work with relatives, he reported to the Gavar police department and confessed to the crime. It was revealed that on January 10, he had sold some of the stolen jewelry in one of Yerevan's gold markets. Part of the stolen items has been recovered. The preliminary investigation of the initiated criminal case is ongoing.
