Sensational Statement from Moscow: Zatuliny's Stark Message to Pashinyan
Konstantin Zatuliny, the first deputy chairman of the State Duma's committee on the CIS affairs of the Russian Federation, has responded to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's assertion that Yerevan does not intend to contest Moscow due to the disparity in the scale of their countries. According to the Russian parliamentarian, such statements only indicate attempts to conceal a shift in foreign policy orientation.
According to Zatuliny, the Prime Minister's logic suggests that the reason for avoiding conflict with Russia is not allied obligations or the importance of bilateral economic and security ties, but purely the size of the states involved. Zatuliny pointed out that the Armenian side is forced to resort to unconvincing explanations in this situation.
The Russian official emphasized that the issue is not a potential clash, but rather the consistent policy adopted by Armenia. He cited the signed roadmap with the European Union regarding the shutdown of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant, the suspension of membership in the CSTO, as well as aspirations for EU membership, as examples.
