Criminal Proceedings Initiated Following Incident Involving Alen Simonyan and Several Individuals
The investigation into the criminal proceedings initiated following the incident involving Alen Simonyan, the Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, and several individuals has been completed. This was reported by the Investigative Committee.
"The investigation into the case regarding the hooliganism committed by M.M. has been concluded at the Yerevan Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia. During the investigation, it was clarified that on March 27, 2026, M.M. committed hooligan actions near the address 1/1 Demirchyan Street in Yerevan, specifically demonstrating an openly disrespectful attitude toward society and a manifest disregard for moral norms, using offensive language and obscene expressions."
M.M. has been subject to public prosecution under Article 297, Part 2, Clause 3 of the Criminal Code (hooliganism committed using information or communication technologies). As a precautionary measure, administrative supervision and a restriction on absence have been imposed on him. The criminal proceedings have been forwarded to the supervising prosecutor with a proposal to approve and send it to court for consideration," the Investigative Committee stated in its message.
