Turkey's Foreign Ministry Response to Armenia and Azerbaijan

The Turkish Foreign Minister has discussed the prospects for Armenia-Azerbaijan normalization and new energy projects. Ankara is making maximum efforts to support the establishment of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan. This was stated by Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan during a meeting with Anadolu Agency, addressing the situation in the South Caucasus and regional developments.

According to Fidan, Turkey's diplomatic activity aims to prevent possible escalations and balance the influence of regional and global players. The Minister emphasized that any instability has a direct impact on Turkey, and thus Ankara is obligated to monitor processes at the state level both in the South Caucasus and in other parts of the world.

Referring to economic and energy projects, the head of Turkey's foreign ministry noted that several previously proposed initiatives, including the construction of gas pipelines from Qatar and Iraq to Turkey, were not implemented due to the existing distrust between neighboring countries. According to Fidan, if these projects had gone ahead, the effects of the current energy crises would be significantly milder.

He stated that countries in the Middle East and adjacent regions must mutually recognize and respect each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty, which would serve as a basis for long-term cooperation.
