Ships May Be Detained: CENTCOM's Warning
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced the establishment of control over the movement of all types of vessels in the Gulf of Oman and in the Arabian Sea, particularly in the area east of the Strait of Hormuz. According to a report by Reuters, the relevant notification has already been sent to mariners.
According to CENTCOM's statement, any ship entering the restricted zone or leaving it without special permission may be halted, redirected, or detained. This applies to all vessels, regardless of their flag.
At the same time, the American side clarifies that the restrictions will not hinder neutral transits through the Strait of Hormuz, provided these are conducted towards non-Iranian destinations or vice versa.
