Azerbaijan Is Extremely Interested in What Awaits Armenia in Upcoming Elections: Kochinyan

Azerbaijan is extremely interested in what awaits Armenia in the upcoming parliamentary elections, as the future of the peace process largely depends on this variable. Aram Kochinyan, the president and coordinator of the Armenian Council analytical center, stated this during a press conference.

“Let’s speak directly. At this moment, the most significant variable in the peace process is the parliamentary elections in Armenia. If the elections were to take place in Azerbaijan, that would be the variable,” he noted.

Elaborating on this, Kochinyan said: “On one hand, there is a quite serious basis for a peace treaty, legal and political, between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which is the peace agreement that has been preliminarily signed and is to be signed and ratified. There is the delimitation and demarcation process between the two countries, the regulations of which have been approved by both sides, all legal processes have been completed, and the commissions have been formed and are currently working. This is the process of unblocking communications, regarding which documents have also been signed, and first and foremost, of course, is TRIPPLE.”

This is the legal treaty basis. Alongside this, there is a certain political element that, yes, a capacity for cooperation has been established between the governments of the two countries.

“It is very important how the political forces participating in the elections in Armenia express their positions and attitudes towards the entire basis I mentioned, because after the elections, issues of peace and war will essentially be decided by the force that wins in Armenia,” said Aram Kochinyan.
