The Red Cross Is Excluded: Sahakyan on Illegally Convicted Armenians in Baku
It is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain information about illegally convicted Armenians in Baku and their health status. Siranuhi Sahakyan, a human rights defender representing Armenian prisoners at the European Court of Human Rights, stated this in an interview with Sputnik Armenia.
“Aside from the fact that the trials have concluded, the Red Cross has been excluded, and no international organization is independently operating regarding human rights. We are also deprived of that fragmented, sporadic visual information. Previously, separate instances of torture were revealed through the analysis of those photographs, whereas now the information is becoming more and more limited,” she emphasized.
According to her, at this moment, they can still obtain certain official data through the European Court of Human Rights, although these often carry a formal nature, for instance, regarding the health status of the prisoners.
