Karapetyan on Israel's Opportunities and the Weakening Role of Russia

Israel plays a significant role in supplying weapons and various military equipment to Azerbaijan and acts as one of the main forces shaping the geopolitical landscape in the region. This was stated by Narek Karapetyan, a member of the political council of the "Strong Armenia" party, in an interview with American businessman and blogger Mario Nawfal.

“As for what we can do in the future, what the South Caucasus can do; our vision of a peaceful future for the South Caucasus is the peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan. And what Israel can provide to this region is technology and education. It should not be limited to military issues, nor just topics of attack, combat, or war. Israel is the only country in this region that has significant technological potential and can share it with all countries to address poverty and economic issues. If we look at the problems in the region from an opportunity rather than a conflict perspective, we can achieve significant results. There has been a history with Israel concerning the supply of equipment to Azerbaijan, but it is noted that the country's technologies and innovations can contribute to solving the region’s economic and social issues,” he added.

According to Karapetyan, solving the issue with Azerbaijan could result in the South Caucasus becoming the only stable zone in the region, at worst. The ongoing Russian processes in the north have disrupted the balance in the region, leading to war.

“The Russian-Ukrainian processes and the war with Ukraine have led to a weakening of Russia's balancing role. Because there are three forces here, and one of those forces, which was one of the balancing actors, was engaged in a different direction,” Karapetyan stated.
