Powerful Earthquake in Turkey
A strong earthquake has been recorded in northern Turkey, with a magnitude estimated to be up to 5.6. The information was provided by the Altai-Sayan branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences' unified geophysical service. According to their operational data, the subterranean tremor occurred today.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located approximately 18 km northeast of the city of Erbaa in Tokat Province, within the Black Sea region. Experts have characterized the intensity of the tremors at the epicenter as 'very strong'. At the same time, the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre has assessed the earthquake's magnitude at 5.3. According to European seismologists, the focus of the earthquake was located about 6 kilometers deep.
