US Prepared to Take Steps if Iran Fails to Reach Agreement: Pete Hegseth
The U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has announced that the United States is keeping all options open in its approach to Iran while simultaneously urging the country to negotiate an agreement.
During a visit to Colorado, Hegseth reiterated that President Donald Trump prefers a diplomatic solution but noted that U.S. armed forces are prepared with contingency plans should Iran refuse to reach an agreement.
“Iran must sign an agreement. Iran has the opportunity to sign an agreement. This is the outcome the president would prefer. Our job is to present options, and we will have options for the president if Iran decides not to sign the agreement,” he said.
When asked if military strikes are still being considered, Hegseth responded, “Everything is on the table.”
“It’s the president's decision. We are here to help ensure that the agreement is reached. And I believe that Iran would be wise to sign a good deal,” he added.
