Artificial Intelligence in Military Secret Systems: Pentagon
The U.S. Department of Defense has signed an agreement with xAI, a company owned by Elon Musk, which will allow the Grok artificial intelligence model to be used in military secret systems. This information was reported by Axios, citing sources from the Pentagon.
According to the publication, one of the main conditions set by the American military structure is the use of artificial intelligence for "all legal purposes," including intelligence, weapon development, and support for military operations.
Until now, the only model available in systems serving key functions of the Department of Defense has been Claude from the company Anthropic. However, the developing company refuses to lift restrictions that pertain to mass surveillance and the use of autonomous weapons.
Axios mentions that it is still unclear whether xAI will be able to fully replace Anthropic and how long that process will take. At the same time, the Pentagon is also negotiating with OpenAI and Google.
