Court Upholds Vazgen Saghatelyan's Detention Decision, Lawyer Says
The Court of Appeals has upheld the detention decision of Vazgen Saghatelyan. This was announced by lawyer Arsen Babayan on his Facebook page. “Unfortunately, Vazgen will continue to remain in prison,” the lawyer's statement reads.
It is important to note that masked law enforcement officers raided the homes of Narek Samsonyan and Vazgen Saghatelyan, the creators of the talk show “Imnemenimi,” on the morning of November 13, and arrested them. Subsequently, searches were conducted at the “Antifaik” office, where all equipment was confiscated.
A criminal case has been initiated against Narek Samsonyan and Vazgen Saghatelyan in response to an insult directed at them by the President of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alen Simonyan. They are charged with “Hooliganism using communication means.” Later, both Samsonyan and Saghatelyan were detained.
It should also be noted that on February 19, Narek Samsonyan's measure of restraint was changed, and he was placed under house arrest.
