I Am Not a Dictator: Zelensky on the End of the War
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky responded to previous statements claiming he is a dictator and the one who started the war in an interview with BBC News. In response to a question, he stated, “I am not a dictator and I did not start the war. Those accusations do not correspond to reality,” said the Ukrainian president.
Regarding the question of whether he trusts Trump, President Zelensky noted that the issue concerns not only the leader of the White House but the United States as a country. He stated that Kyiv seeks to obtain long-term security guarantees, for example, for 30 years, while during that time U.S. political leadership can change several times.
Zelensky emphasized that such decisions must be confirmed by the U.S. Congress, as presidents change while state institutions continue to operate. He pointed out that security guarantees require institutional support, not just agreement at the executive level.
