Hungary's Foreign Minister: They Cannot Blackmail Us

Hungary's Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto has stated that the cessation of Russian oil transit via the "Druzhba" pipeline by Ukraine is viewed in Budapest as an attack on sovereignty. He made these comments during an interview with Hungarian journalists, which was broadcast on M1 television.

“In today’s meeting, I made it clear that we do not support the 20th package of anti-Russian sanctions and will not allow it. I also clarified that we will not agree to provide Ukraine with a military loan of 90 billion euros. Because the Ukrainians cannot blackmail us; they cannot jeopardize Hungary’s energy security by colluding with Brussels and the Hungarian opposition. No, a clear no, and that is what I said,” Szijjarto mentioned during his conversation with Hungarian journalists.

According to him, any step that threatens the safety of the country’s energy supply can be classified as actions against sovereignty. Szijjarto emphasized that disruptions in oil supplies could have serious consequences for Hungary.
