The Vision of a World Without Borders is a Foolish Idea, Says U.S. Secretary of State
“The vision of a world without borders, and the attempt to replace national interests with a global framework turned out to be a foolish idea,” declared U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio during his speech at the Munich Conference.
“The euphoria that arose from the victory of the Cold War led us into a dangerous delusion. The notion that we have entered the 'end of history,' that every country will now become a liberal democracy… and that we will live in a world without borders where everyone will be a citizen of the world, was a foolish idea that ignored both human nature and the lessons of five thousand years of recorded human history,” the Secretary stated.
“In our pursuit of a world without borders, we opened the doors to an unprecedented wave of mass migration, which threatens the cohesion of our society, the continuity of our culture, and the future of our peoples,” he added.
