The Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, insists that Samvel Karapetyan cannot be a candidate for Prime Minister. 'He cannot even be a candidate for MP; he can be something in Russia or Cyprus,' he stated during a conversation with reporters.

In response to Aysor.am's observation that all social surveys indicate that the force led by Samvel Karapetyan is set to secure a majority, Alen Simonyan emphasized that if they are told such things, they should 'cross themselves'. 'It's absurd; they should realize that many people, due to financial interests, may tell them what they want to hear,' he noted.

The Speaker assures that the ruling party is not disconnected from the people and is also receptive to criticism. Alen Simonyan declared that the force led by Samvel Karapetyan is certain they will face a crushing defeat.

Simonyan also addressed relations with Russia, stating, 'We have neither the desire nor the opportunity to fight with them; we never have, but we have the right to defend ourselves. We will protect our independence with our teeth. After the 44-day war, the leader of Artsakh was saying, 'You take care of Armenia, Artsakh is the safest place,' adding, 'спасибо России' (thank you, Russia).
