Conflict Would Not Happen If Trump Were President: Orban

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has stated that the conflict in Ukraine would not have arisen if Donald Trump had been President of the United States in 2022, adding that then-President Joe Biden had dragged all of Europe into the situation, except for Hungary.

“In January 2025, with a new U.S. president coming to power, the U.S. will step out of the war. Of course, if Trump had been president earlier, this war wouldn’t have started at all. But he was not the president; rather, it was Democrat Biden, who not only supported the war but also dragged all European countries into it. Except for one—Hungary, as we resisted and stayed out,” Orban said while summarizing the year.

According to the Hungarian Prime Minister, this serves as “a good lesson for those who constantly seek to align themselves with a greater power and do not trust an independent foreign policy.”
