Please Be Patient: Avinyan Addresses Pothole Issues in Yerevan
The Mayor of Yerevan, Tigran Avinyan, has released a statement: "Dear Yerevan residents, we know that there is currently a pothole issue in Yerevan, which is causing you inconvenience.
The potholes primarily occurred during the winter season due to multiple freeze-thaw cycles, water penetration into the road surface, and the salt used against snow. When water freezes, it expands, weakening the asphalt structure, while heavy traffic eventually damages these areas.
Starting today, a major and extensive pothole repair program will be launched in Yerevan for this year. 200,000 square meters of work will be carried out. The process will be organized during nighttime in all administrative districts: first, the damaged surface of the trafficable area will be cut, followed by the installation of new asphalt concrete cover.
From April, an annual medium repair program will also commence, which includes the adjustment of stormwater inlets and inspection manholes. Please be patient. The work will be intensive and consistent." Avinyan had previously stated, "Tomorrow or the day after, weather permitting, asphalt paving works will be carried out throughout the city."
