I Say This Responsibly: No Student with Excellent Progress Will Be Excluded from Education, Says Pashinyan
No student should be excluded from the educational process simply because they have issues paying tuition fees. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this while responding to a question from one of the student participants at the event themed 'Youth for the Scientific Future of Armenia.'
The Prime Minister emphasized that this is their conceptual approach. “We are now trying to pursue institutional solutions. For example, the 'Academic Town' project is about this, because one of the key conceptual nuances of the project is that the costs of education for students with good and excellent progress should be covered by the state or by the 'Academic Town' foundation, or the 'Talent Development' foundation. In other words, when we talk about the Academic Town, we are mainly talking about buildings and physical capabilities, which is true, but the foundation of the idea is that the state, the Government should take on the costs of education for students with good and excellent progress.
Next, we will begin the physical construction of the Academic Town, and it is Yerevan State University that proposed this idea: the first segment to be put into operation should be the student dormitories, because many students coming from the regions have housing issues in Yerevan. I also came from the regions to study in Yerevan; I faced those problems. We want to meet the demand for student dormitories throughout the republic in the Academic Town.
I say this responsively that any student whose family has objective issues with paying tuition fees, I guarantee that with good excellent progress, they will not be excluded from education,” said the Prime Minister.
