Torosyan on the Consequences of Not Obtaining Identification Cards in Time

On December 4, 2024, based on the amendments made to the Labor Code, it was decided that starting from January 1, 2026, the signing, termination, and modification of employment contracts will be carried out exclusively through a digital system. This was stated by the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Arsen Torosyan, during an extraordinary session of the National Assembly.

“Many citizens did not obtain their identification cards in time, without which it is impossible to activate an electronic signature, and now we are facing a situation where some of our citizens are effectively deprived of their labor rights,” said Minister Torosyan.

The draft law specifically proposes that the signing, modification, and termination of employment contracts be carried out solely through a digital system starting from January 1, 2027.
