This is a fateful decision: Pashinyan
The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, addressed the operation timelines of the Metsamor nuclear power plant during the question-and-answer session in the National Assembly.
"We are currently in the process of extending the operation of the Metsamor nuclear power plant until 2036, after which there is an assumption of a further extension for 10 years," he stated, emphasizing that decisions will need to be made by 2046.
According to the Prime Minister, discussions regarding the acquisition of a new nuclear reactor are taking place with Russia, the United States, France, China, and South Korea. "We transparently inform all partners that this is a fateful strategic decision for the country, and we must be confident about which proposal aligns with Armenia's interests when making this decision," he remarked.
