Zelensky Denies Reports About Elections
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that reports about holding elections on February 24 are not true. During a briefing, he also ruled out the possibility of sending a delegation to Moscow for negotiations.
Zelensky emphasized that elections in Ukraine could only be organized if there are clear security guarantees and a ceasefire is achieved. He pointed out that the U.S. is not threatening to withhold security guarantees from Kyiv if the elections do not take place.
The president also mentioned that he is ready to meet for negotiations in the territory of the U.S., Europe, or any neutral country, but neither Russia nor Belarus.
Previously, Times of Ukraine, citing its sources, reported that Kyiv is discussing the possibility of sending a delegation to Moscow. Financial Times also indicated that Ukrainian authorities have agreed to a U.S. proposal to hold presidential elections and a referendum on a potential peace agreement with Russia before May 15.
