Trump and the First Meeting of the Peace Council: Who Will Attend?

President Donald Trump of the United States has called for the first meeting of the Peace Council he established. It is scheduled to take place on February 19 in Washington.

According to Axios, the US administration intends to use this meeting to implement the second phase of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and to raise funds for the reconstruction of the enclave.

"This will be the first session of the Peace Council and a conference to raise funds for the reconstruction of Gaza," an anonymous American official disclosed.

The Peace Council meeting is expected to be held at the Peace Institute, which Trump recently renamed in his honor.

“As of now, nothing has been confirmed, but the administration is planning it and has started checking which leaders will be able to attend,” one source noted.

This is what is known about Trump's Peace Council: On January 22, during the World Economic Forum in Davos, President Donald Trump officially announced the launch of the activities of the “Peace Council” he created.

The council currently has 27 members, and Trump is at its helm. Interestingly, he will hold this position even after the presidential term ends, according to media reports.

The structure created by the American leader will deal with various issues, including the situation in Gaza.

It should be noted that most of Washington's Western partners have rejected the invitation to join Trump's Peace Council. This is partly due to the council's charter, which grants broad powers to the Council, and Trump has the exclusive right to veto its decisions.

Notably, among others, Russia and its ally Belarus have received invitations to join the Peace Council. Ukraine has also received a corresponding invitation. President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that he cannot envision how Ukraine could be part of Trump’s "Peace Council" where Russia would also be present.
