Birth Rate Declines by Approximately 1524: Demographic Indicators Show Deteriorating Situation, Avetisyan

According to the latest data released by official statistics, key demographic indicators measured from January to November 2025 show a significant worsening compared to the same period last year. This was reported by Tadevos Avetisyan, a member of the National Assembly from the 'Armenia' faction, on his Facebook page.

"The population viability factor, which reflects the ratio of births to deaths, is at 127%, a decrease of about 6 percentage points. The natural increase, defined as the difference between the number of births and deaths, reached 6,228, declining by 1,383 or 18%. The number of births is at 29,337, dropping by approximately 1,524 or 5%. The number of deaths remained nearly the same. The number of marriages was 12,672, decreasing by 1,643 or approximately 12%. Meanwhile, divorces saw an increase with 4,419 cases, which is about 140 more or around 3% higher. Infant mortality cases for newborns aged 0-1 reached 207, an increase of 16 or about 8.5%. Deaths among children aged 0-4 amounted to 251, rising by 25 cases or around 11%."

These alarming demographic trends characterize the governance of the current administration and are mainly a consequence of the anti-social policies pursued. The quality of life for approximately 40% of our population in socially vulnerable groups is declining, including pensioners, beneficiaries, working poor, and the extremely impoverished. This has led to a sharp decrease in marriage rates, an increase in divorce rates, and rising mortality rates, including infant mortality, as well as a decline in birth rates and an increase in emigration indicators."
