First Victims in Poland: Winter Starts Claiming Lives

Winter has claimed its first casualties in Poland as the country faces abnormal cold temperatures that have already taken dozens of lives. According to official data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the number of fatalities due to hypothermia has surpassed fifty since the onset of winter.

The authorities do not hide that the situation is exceeding the bounds of 'normal cold weather.' Official reports indicate that at least 50 people have died, with an additional 36 rescued but currently under medical supervision.

Notably, many of the fatalities have occurred not in remote rural areas, but in cities, close to warm buildings and assistance points. Experts warn that new nights of extreme low temperatures are expected in the coming days, which could further complicate the situation.

In response to the dire conditions, the authorities in Warsaw have taken emergency measures. Free night buses have been launched in the city to provide people a place to warm up, and special tents have been set up to protect against the frost.
