EU Rejects All Accusations from Iran
The European Union has rejected all accusations from Iran regarding the designation of armed forces of EU member states as terrorist organizations. Anwar al-Anuni, spokesperson for the EU External Action Service, made this statement during a press briefing in Brussels.
“We fully reject the statement about the armed forces of the EU being designated as terrorist organizations and the related accusations. Regarding the summoning of EU ambassadors, I remind you that the Vienna Convention provides for such actions as part of diplomatic practice. There is nothing more to add,” he stated.
On February 1, in response to the EU's designation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, an elite military unit) as a terrorist organization, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf announced that the Iranian parliament had recognized the armed forces of EU member states as terrorist organizations.
