The Meeting Between the US and Iran May Take Place in Turkey: Axios

Turkey, Egypt, and Qatar are working to organize a meeting between US Special Envoy Steve Hanke and senior Iranian officials in Ankara this week, Axios reports, citing sources.

“Things are moving forward. We are doing everything we can,” a diplomat from one of the mentioned countries told the publication. The media did not specify which country they represent.

A US official confirmed that a meeting between the US and Iran could take place in Turkey.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump stated that a “large fleet” is moving towards Iran and expressed hope that Tehran would agree to negotiate “a fair and equal” deal that would entail the complete dismantling of its nuclear arsenal. The American leader reminded that in June 2025, the US struck Iranian nuclear facilities. He stated that “the next attack will be worse” and called for “not allowing that to happen.”
