The Best Guarantee for Ukraine's Security is the Guarantee of Russia's Security: Grushko
The best guarantee for Ukraine's security will be the unshakable guarantee of Russia's security, which is not discussed by anyone in the West, said Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko to RIA Novosti.
“Everyone talks about the necessity of providing security guarantees to Ukraine, but in recent months, or even years, I don't recall any statements where anyone said that Russia's security guarantees should be part of the peaceful resolution and peace formula. Although it is absolutely clear to everyone that the best guarantee for Ukraine's security is the unshakable guarantee of Russia's security,” he stated.
The Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that any scenario regarding the deployment of NATO troops in Ukraine is unacceptable and could lead to a sharp escalation. President Vladimir Putin explained that Moscow would consider foreign troops near its borders as legitimate targets. He added that the presence of foreign troops in a neighboring country would be inappropriate after the signing of a peace agreement.
“If we understand that Ukraine's territory will not be used as a launch pad to create threats to Russia's security, then Ukraine's security will be ensured,” concluded Grushko.
