Iran Will Strengthen If Trump Fails to Fulfill His Threats: Saudi Arabia's Minister
The Minister of Saudi Arabia has predicted that Iran will strengthen if Trump fails to fulfill his threats. Khalid bin Salman, the Saudi Minister of Defense, stated during a closed press briefing in Washington on January 30 that if Trump does not follow through on his threats against Iran, the Iranian regime will ultimately grow stronger, according to four sources present at the meeting, as reported by Axios.
U.S. officials indicated that Tehran seems uninterested in an agreement under U.S. conditions. "Iran always wants an agreement. But the issue is, what kind of agreement do you want? What kind of agreement does Iran want, and what kind of agreement is the U.S. willing to accept? That’s a very good question, and we do not see that happening at this time," said a Gulf official.
According to the sources, Khalid bin Salman expressed the view that after weeks of threats, Trump might have to resort to military force, but he should also attempt to mitigate the risks of regional escalation.
